Federal enterprise information technology and cybersecurity leaders are responding to the recently published Executive Order (EO) 14028, “Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity”, directing civilian agencies to adopt Zero Trust enterprise security architecture principles. OMB’s draft Federal Zero Trust Strategy and CISA’s Zero Trust Maturity Model, developed in support of EO 14028, are prompting agencies to reevaluate their cyber risk posture and the level of credible knowledge about their security controls. As Zero Trust adoption progresses, leaders will increasingly depend on real-time, continuous assessment and compliance as the foundation of a mature Zero Trust-enabled enterprise.
